How to Edit Milestones Used in Assessment (Admin User Only)

Milestones are the assessment points used to identify each child's progress against the objectives in Learning Ladders.

Milestones are completely customisable by colour, code and name to ensure that a school's assessment policy is reflected within Learning Ladders.

Note: The maximum number of assessment milestones is 6.

Each Learning Ladders site is set with default assessment milestones, ready to be customised.

An example assessment policy could be:

If you wish to add in more milestones to allow for more granular insights, this can be achieved by clicking on 'New milestone'.

In order to achieve consistent data, it is important to discuss each assessment milestone as a school team to ensure a moderated use. For example, what does a child need to demonstrate to be 'secure' against an objective.

How to access Milestone settings

Only an admin user has permissions to change settings. It is important that admin users do not change the milestones throughout the year as this will impact the integrity of the data.

To do this, go to ‘Settings’ on the left-hand menu

  • Click ‘Settings’> Settings

Where are milestones used in the system?

1. Classes & Groups

Milestones are visible beneath each objective within Classes& Groups for teachers to record their formative assessment.

As the cursor hovers over a milestone, teachers can view the description and date stamp of the assessment.

2. Students

3. Gap Analysis

Spot gaps in learning in Gap Analysis, showing teachers the assessment milestone reached in every objective.

4. Student Statements

Share the curriculum objectives with students and see the formative assessment recorded as ticks in Student Statements. The number of boxes reflect the number of milestones in the school's policy. These can open up conversations with students and parents.
