EYFS: Attainment and Progress Descriptors
Customise your Attainment and Progress Descriptors
Within the EYFS module half termly and termly professional judgements are entered for assessment. (Read about professional judgements here).
For this reason the EYFS module does not use 'Milestones' or generate judgements from an algorithm but has unique progress and attainment descriptors to align with each school's EYFS assessment policy.
Schools can choose up to 4 Attainment and Progress descriptors. It may be helpful to use 'Do not use' if you are not using any of the descriptors to avoid confusion when adding judgements.Follow these steps to set your policy:
- Settings (left menu)> Settings> Assessment Summary> Assessment Descriptors> View& Edit
You can edit the colour, descriptor name and code for both attainment and progress. - Select Attainment Descriptors or Progress Descriptors> Edit Descriptors> edit then 'Save Descriptors'.
It is useful to discuss what each descriptor means as a team e.g. 'cause for concern', 'above age related' These are all questions which should be answered in your school's assessment policy and will provide consistency across classes when making judgements.
The above are our default descriptors, cause for concern, at age related, 'above age related expectations, significantly above age related expectations.
Learning Ladders' EYFS module provides separate assessment settings to the rest of the school. This is to reflect the unique assessment requirements within EYFS and allows assessment to provide an accurate reflection of assessment in this phase.
