EYFS: Year Group Set-Up Options for the EYFS Module

EYFS: Year Group Set-Up Options for the EYFS Module

Schools have the option to purchase and enable two separate modules within their Learning Ladders site, EYFS and KS1+ (Primary).

This provides schools with one, whole school system providing separate curriculum and assessment policies to meet the unique requirements of EYFS and Primary assessment.

Read more about the EYFS module in the article, EYFS and Learning Ladders.

If the EYFS module is enabled, the user sees the two module buttons in the top left hand corner of the menu. A user is then able to seamlessly switch between the two modules, aiding transition and visibility between phases.

Please contact the team at support@learningladders.infoif you would like to discuss enabling the EYFS module in your Learning Ladders.

If a KS1+ site is already live, the EYFS module carries over the same year group set-up as the KS1+ module.

For existing KS1+ sites, upon enabling the EYFS module, EYFS year groups automatically move into the EYFS module

For schools utilising UK Year Groups the following year groups are available:

EYFS Module: Pre-School (0-3 year olds), Nursery (3& 4 year olds), Reception (4& 5 year olds)

KS1+ Module: Year 1 through to Secondary (if applicable)

Note: When Grades is enabled, the KS1+ button becomes Grade 1+

For schools utilising the Grades system the following year groups are available:

EYFS Module: Birth to Three (0-3), PKG (3-4), KG1 (4& 5 year olds), KG2 (5& 6 year olds)

Grade 1+ Module: Grade 1 through to Secondary (if applicable)

Classes migrate in August into the next year group automatically (unless your school has a different arrangement) The team can tell the system to keep Birth-3 students within this year group at the point of migration.

We understand that this standard set-up may not be applicable across all territories. Please contact the team to discuss any alternative year group set-ups and we can have a conversation to decide the best set-up for the school.

A third option for schools where the setup options do not offer the required set up is to create a completely separate site for EYFS and KS1+. This would enable schools for example to assess and report on KG2 within the Primary module.

There are implications to consider for this arrangement, including:

  • The impact on effective transition around visibility of EYFS data, reporting, curriculum and observations.
  • Access for parents- removing the ability for a parent to use one login to access communication about learning for multiple siblings across the school phases.
  • Extra migration processes for the school's admin/technical users
  • The requirement of two MIS integrations to update pupil/parent information- this is still being investigated.
