There are two ways to add a Student's Ethnicity in on Learning Ladders; by adding Ethnicity codes in bulk through a Student Import, or manually at the 'Student' level.
Adding Ethnicity to students using a Student Import
Upon opening the Student Import file you will see the header for Ethnicity:
It is within the 'Ethnicity' column that you need to enter the correct Ethnicity Code which can be found as an attachment to this article.
If you have a live MIS integration, students' ethnicity will update when changes are made in the MIS.
If no MIS integration exists, ensure that students' UPN numbers matches exactly what is in the Learning Ladders to avoid the system creating new students when updating.
Manually adding/editing a Student's Ethnicity
Click on 'Students' on the blue tool bar. Select the student you require and click on the 'eye icon'.
On this page you can view the Ethnicity recorded for the student and can click 'Edit' to amend/add this information.
Click the arrow on the drop-down menu underneath Ethnicity and select the correct Ethnicity. You must click the blue 'Update Student' button to save the changes made.
Why is it beneficial to import a student's Ethnicity?
Importing student's Ethnicity opens up your reporting capabilities. Within Insights it is possible to create Subject Reports, Phase Leader reports and Over Time reports. This allows Subject, Phase and Senior Leaders to monitor the progress in their Subject/Phase for different Ethnic groups across selected periods.
