How to record an assessment for an individual

  • Filter using Last Name/First Name/ Year or Class to locate the student
  • Click on 'Add Assessment’ next to the students' name.

  • Select the ‘Year’, ‘Subject’, ‘Select Ladder’ and ‘Assessment Window’.

What does Hide Year Colours refer to?
Hide Year colours is a feature introduced for sensitivity when sharing the assessment page with the student.  If a student is working on objectives outside of their year group, or if the year group labels are seen as unhelpful, 'Hide Year Colours' removes the year labels.

How to record an assessment for a class/group
  • Click on 'Classes and Groups’
  • Click on 'Class Assessment'

  • Select the ‘Class/Group, ‘Subject’, and 'Rung Year

  1. Click on the assessment milestone to record an assessment for students
Tip: Click on 'Full Screen' to display more students and objectives on the page to reduce scrolling.

Why is it important to select the correct Assessment Window?

Choosing the right assessment window in Classes & Groups or Students tells the system when the assessment milestone was assessed as achieved, informing the calculation of progress and attainment.  It is important that teams agree which assessment windows will be used for recording assessments.

When should the 'Historical' Assessment Window be used?
The 'Historical' window refers to learning that students came to the academic year with.  Schools often use this assessment window to record baseline assessments.  Assessments recorded as 'Historical' will not count in toward attainment or progress calculations for the current academic year.

2. Save time and record assessments in bulk

Bulk assess for an individual objective

  • Click on "Classes & Groups".
  • Use the selectors to select the class or group
  • Underneath the objective click 'bulk assessment'
  • Select the assessment milestone to record for all students
  • The system automatically records the assessment milestone for all students in the class/group

Remember to review the bulk assessments to reflect natural differentiation.  Remove an assessment for a student by clicking on the tick, record the next assessment milestone by clicking on it.

Bulk assess for multiple objectives

  • Select "Enable Bulk Assessment"
  • Click 'Select Rung' underneath each objective you'd like to a bulk record assessment against
  • Click on the names of the students you'd like the bulk assessment to apply to
  • To record assessments for all students and/or all rungs, use the "All Students" and "All Rungs" buttons on the top left of the table
  • Click "Save Assessments"

  • Select the Assessment Window, number of complete assessments you wish to record, view the summary and then click "Save Assessments"

3. Use the Search Button to quickly look for specific Ladders/Aspects

Use specific keywords and quickly search for specific ladders/rungs you are assessing against. This is an easy and efficient way to record assessments.

4. Make use of the available resources and notes

View useful resources added to the objective by the subject leader.  This might be a link to your shared drive of a useful resource, a particular part of a policy written by the leader or guidance notes for pedagogy used or resources to bring the objective to life.

5. Upload shared evidence for parents to see.

Teachers can upload evidence against assessments for moderation, progress meetings or to share progress with parents.

6. Assess children with SEND against bespoke curriculum objectives

Read the helpful guide: Assessing students with SEND. Teachers can select a class or group in 'Classes & Group' assessment. Once you have assigned children with a SEND to a group, you can select the group, the specific subject you have created the supporting curriculum objectives in and rung year.

Teachers record assessments against the additional curriculum objectives created for their unique learning requirements in either Classes& Groups:
