EYFS: Sharing Observations with Parents

EYFS: Sharing Observations with Parents

The Early Years Framework 2021 seeks to provide ongoing communication between practitioners and with parents and/or carers:

'2.3. Parents and/or carers should be kept up-to-date with their child’s progress and development'

The first step to sharing observations includes an admin user customising the settings for sharing in Ladders at Home> Settings. See the video below explaining the settings available:

The second step is to communicate with the team about how they mark observations for sharing:

Click on Observations> Add Observation. Fill out the observation fields and at the bottom of the observation, see the box for marking an observation to share with parents.

When the 'Share with Parent' box is ticked, this means that the observation will be shared with parents in Ladders at Home (either automatically 2 hours after saving, or manually- informed by the settings for Ladders at Home).

The parent will receive a notification that an observation has been shared and the latest observations will be visible on the home page of Ladders at Home for their EYFS child.

In the Observation Manager, useful icons indicate whether an observation has been shared with parents. The Legend in the left menu provides a key to these icons.

For any questions about observations please get in touch with the team at support@learningladders.info
